Generate navigation menus from your folder structure

The navigation of your help site will be generated from the folder structure in your Content folder and the contents of your documents:

Multiple languages

On top level you will find A. en and B. de which you will contain the localized documentation for each language.

These languages will appear in the top level language picker to choose from.

The A. and B. at the beginning of the language name will be used to determine the order of the entries in the dropdown menu. They will not appear in the picker.

You could also use numbers, just make sure that there is a space after the prepending characters and the name that should show up.

Top navigation

In each language folder you will find the folders for the top level navigation.

The names of these folders will appear in uppercase letters in the colored top navigation bar.

On mobile devices the top level folders can be accessed by clicking on the burger-menu in the colored main toolbar.

Again the names of the menu items will not contain the prepended letters or numbers that have to be provided for defining the sort order of the items.

Left navigation

The files and folders below the top navigation will appear in the menu on the left-hand side.

You can either have folders or documents on this level.

Right navigation

The navigation menu on the right-hand side is generated from the content of your documents.

All section titles formatted with Heading 3 will appear in the navigation on the right.

If you scroll in a longer document the matching headline will be highlighted and users can jump to the sections of interest by using the right navigation menu.
